World's Worst Pimp

Episode Title: 'Strange Friends' or 'The Truth Is You're Sexy'

Synopsis:

Tanya finally hunts down Lenore to get Ray's wallet back only to see it empty. She pays Ray $300 anyway out of her own pocket to keep him from losing his temper. Ray finds out his credit cards had been maxed when trying to gas up his car and confronts her. Tanya admits to the $300 and admits her fault but Ray is incensed, calling her the World's Worst Pimp.

Tanya goes out on a date with Floyd Gerber (Steve Hytner), the host of the seminar she joined where she met Ray again. His motives are unclear other than possible sex at the end of the date, where he follows her home 'because it's not in his DNA to just wave goodbye to a stunning woman after a meal'.

Jessica buys an old, sick dog at random, claiming deep pity. Ray decides to fix his house himself, but instead ends up looking through old pictures of his family.

Tanya sends him cookies with laminated messages baked inside them, saying she's sorry. She apologizes when they meet up and Ray says ok, but does not agree to try their venture again. Ray gives the cookies to their neighbor and it isn't clear he was doing so because he wanted them to possibly choke on the baked - in messages or he was genuinely hoping for peace between them. Koontz had been reporting Ray to the police for minor infractions obviously designed to annoy him into selling his property to him. Later when Mrs. Koontz eats one she gets a message saying 'The Truth Is You're Sexy' in it, and smiles.

Lenore calls Tanya to tell her she has three possible clients for Ray. She admits to using Ray's credit cards, claiming they're 'advanced commission' for the business she was about to give them. Tanya is incensed at her at first, but lists down the three clients anyway.

Critique:

This episode and the previous one is definitely Rebecca Creskoff's Lenore, as she steals the show with her sass. Her calling Tanya to give her leads gives a new facet to her character which had previously been presented as just a controlling bitch. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her delicious character in future episodes.

When it rains on Ray, it definitely pours. Not only does he have difficult neighbors, he's broke, and is facing the impossible task of fixing his severely damaged house by himself. It's hard not to feel complete sympathy for the guy at this stage, and I'm sure most of the audience watching this are completely hooked by now. His is a difficult situation and we're all pulling for him.

The show ends with hope though, with the sound of Tanya's voice in his voicemail telling him of the potential clients, as he walks on the sidewalk carrying construction equipment back home.
